We already know that the Pixel 6 series will feature a custom processor that Google has developed in collaboration with Samsung. Called Tensor, it is a 5nm octa-core chipset featuring an unusual CPU configuration. Earlier leaks have suggested a dual Super Core arrangement and the latest Geekbench listing confirms that. Google isn’t using ARM’s latest Cortex-X2 Super Core but instead, it has opted for two Cortex-X1 cores clocked at 2.80GHz. The two middle cores are operating at 2.25GHz while four more power-efficient CPU cores operate at a maximum frequency of 1.80GHz. And looking at the Geekbench scores, this arrangement seems to be delivering good results. The Pixel 6 Pro scored 1,034 and 2,756 in single-core and multi-core CPU tests respectively on Geekbench 5. As Phonearena notes, the scores are still below what Snapdragon 888-powered phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (1,113 and 3,538) and OnePlus 9 Pro (1,097 and 3,566) achieved. But Google could improve on that with further optimizations. For the record, the previous Geekbench scores for the Pixel 6 Pro came in at 414 and 2,074. Moreover, Google is primarily looking to improve on its own previous offerings rather than compete against the established flagship lines from other OEMs. And if you consider that, this is a major step up from the Pixel 5 last year. The Snapdragon 765G-powered phone scored 588 and 1,597 in single-core and multi-core CPU tests respectively. That said, Geekbench scores are no true indication of a device’s day-to-day performance. Moreover, it’s fairly easy to manipulate these scores. It shouldn’t be too long now before we get to know how the Pixel 6 Pro will fair in the real world. The said Geekbench listing also confirms a 12GB RAM variant for the Pixel 6 Pro.

Pixel 6 series will bring major all-around improvements

The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 pro have appeared in leaks, rumors, and certification listings numerous times over the past couple of months. We are seemingly in for major all-around improvements this year. The processor is certain to be one of the biggest upgrades. But there will be improvements in other areas as well. Google will seemingly almost double the charging speed with its new Pixels. We are expecting 33W fast wired charging in Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Pixel 5 offered just 18W of charging speed at max.
