Most notably, Samsung has introduced dynamic coloring to One UI 4.0. If you’ve been following all the recent developments around Android 12, you probably know that dynamic coloring is one of the most talked-about features of the new Android version. Powered by the monet theme engine, this feature automatically extracts the color scheme of your wallpaper and applies it system-wide as well as to supported third-party apps to allow for a consistent look. However, Google hadn’t included this feature in the open-source release of Android 12 beta. There was some evidence suggesting dynamic coloring could eventually arrive in AOSP (Android Open Source Project) but not just yet. So it wasn’t expected to make it into custom Android skins of Samsung and the likes so early. But it appears the stable AOSP build of Android 12, which Google released Monday, includes dynamic coloring. Or maybe Samsung has developed a similar feature of its own. We shall have confirmation on that soon. Nonetheless, One UI 4.0 beta 2 also brings the new virtual RAM feature to the Galaxy S21 series. Samsung has rolled out this feature to several other Galaxy devices in recent weeks. Other notable changes include an improved Samsung Keyboard and a microphone mode in video calls. The latter reportedly lets you emphasize certain sounds during video calls. The latest beta build also fixes a “problem with closing when running Secure Folder”. The original One UI 4.0 beta added tons of new features and there are bound to be some bugs or unexpected behavior. Samsung has likely fixed many of those issues with this release. Of course, there may be some bugs in the second beta as well. A subsequent release should quash them.

Samsung releases the second One UI 4.0 beta

The second One UI 4.0 beta build for the Galaxy S21 series should be available in all seven countries where the beta program is open. These include China, Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the UK, and the US. As of this writing, SamMobile had confirmed the availability in South Korea and Germany. However, the rollout could soon reach the other five markets as well. If you’ve enrolled in the beta program, you should be able to download the new beta build from the Settings » Software update menu on your Galaxy S21.
