This is really not difficult to do. You can do it from the app’s settings, with ease. Once you change this setting, only the people you want will be able to add you to WhatsApp groups. That being said, we’ll explain to you how to do it below, one step at a time. You’ll also find screenshots for every one of those steps, so that it’s easier to follow along. Let’s get started.
How to stop random people from adding you to WhatsApp groups
The first thing you’ll need to do is open WhatsApp, and make sure you’re on the main screen. If you’re not, return back to the main screen, where all your chats are. From there, you’ll need to tap the three dots in the top-right corner, the vertical ones.
Once you do that, a new pop-up menu will appear, and you’ll see the “Settings” option. Tap it.
Once you’re in the Settings, you’ll need to navigate to the first option available, the “Account” option.
In the account menu, tap the “Privacy” option, which is the first one in line.
In the Privacy menu, you’ll see a ton of options. The one we’re interested in is called “Groups”, tap that.
Once you’re in the Groups menu, you’ll see three options you can choose from. The first is “Everyone”, and that one is set by default. With this option, pretty much everyone can add you to a group. The “My contacts” option is what most people will want to opt for. This way, only your contacts can add you to a group. The last option is “My contacts except…”, this option makes sure that you can select some people from your contacts you don’t want to be able to add you to a group. In this example, we’ll go for the “My contacts” option, choose it, and tap the “Done” button at the bottom of the screen.
