How to enable subtitles on Disney+ on your phone/tablet

A fair number of people (if not most) primarily view Disney+ on their mobile devices. It’s just so convenient to open the app on your phone and watch the content that way. You’ll most likely find yourself watching stuff on your phone while at the airport or at the bus stop. The only issue with that is that you might not always be able to hear what the characters are saying. Enabling the subtitles on your phone or tablet is about the same. The first thing you’ll want to do is tap on the screen so that the play controls show up. When you do that, you’ll see a little icon on the upper right corner of the screen. This is the language menu. Tap on it, and you’ll see two columns of options show up. You’ll want to look at the options on the right side, those are the options for subtitles. Just scroll down until you see the language that you want them in. Once you tap the option, the subtitles will promptly show up.

How to enable subtitles on Disney+ on your TV

There are plenty of times when you’ll need to enable the subtitles on your TV. These can range from crappy speakers to having a ton of guests over. Either way, you’ll find yourself reaching for the remote to turn them on. The process here is similar to enabling them on phones and tablets. First, you’ll want to press the “OK” button on your remote to summon the play controls. This time, you won’t see the menu on the upper right corner of the screen. Rather, it will be to the bottom right. When you select that menu, you’ll see two tabs appear on the screen. The right tab will have the options for the subtitles. Select the ones that you want, and they’ll shows up.

How to enable subtitles on Disney+ on your computer

Sure, people typically watch Disney+ using their mobile device or TV, but there are those who sign up using their computers. Whether it’s using the web client or the dedicated app, they just want to use their computer to watch their Cocoa and Encanto. Enabling the subtitles is the same whether you’re using the web client or the app. What you’ll want to do is move the mouse over the screen, this will summon the play options and other menus. Look at the top right corner of the screen, and you’ll find the language menu. When you click on it, you’ll see the same two sets of options. On the right side, you’ll see the subtitle options. Simply click on the ones that you want to apply.

Prices and plans

As of December 8th 2022, Disney+ entered its second phase of pricing, and that applied to the other associated services. This brought some increased prices and an additional price tier. Here’s a quick rundown of the plans.

Disney+

For starters, the price is no longer $7.99/month for a single ad-free plan. That price rose to $10.99/month. With this plan, you get to watch all of the content free of ads. On December 8th, Disney unveiled the new ad-supported plan that costs $7.99/month. With this plan, you still have access to all of the content on the platform, but you will see ads placed before and during the content. There are currently no yearly plans for Disney+.

Disney+ bundles

In case you didn’t know, Disney+ can be bundled along with Hulu and ESPN+, and bundling these services can actually save you some money. Let’s start off with the cheapest one. You can get a bundle with Disney+ and Hulu (both with ads) for $9.99/month. That one seems like it will be one of the more popular options. Next up, there’s an all-in-one package containing Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, all with ads. This one will run you back $12.99/month. This brings in the live sports with ESPN+, in case you’re also a sports fan. Last, but not least, there’s the most expensive package with all three services with no ads. This one costs $19.99/month. If this sounds high, just remember that this is the price of a top-tier Netflix subscription. You get three different services with no ads at the highest resolution, and there is no geo-locking either.

How to choose your plan

Not happy with the price change, and you want to edit your plan? Well, you can easily swap your plan for another.

If you signed up through Disney+

First, make sure that you’re logged in to the device that you’re using. If you’re using Disney+ on your phone or tablet, tap on your profile picture on the bottom right of the screen and select the Account button. On the resulting page, you’ll see the Subscription section. Tapping on that button will open your Disney+ account page in a separate browser tab. There, you will sign in to your account, and you’ll be presented with your plan options. Just select the plan that you want, and your plan will change right then and there. If you’re using your computer or internet browser, just follow this link. There, you’ll sign in and select the plan that suits your needs.

If you signed up through Hulu

There are a handful of people who use these services, but they signed up through Hulu. The processes and prices are different in that case. Hulu has its own plans and prices. Thus, you won’t be able to change your plan through the Disney+ app. Instead, follow this link. This will take you to your Hulu account page. There, you’ll see the plethora of different plans provided by Hulu. Just select the one that you want, and your plan will change.
