The FCC website lists the Galaxy S23 Ultra with the model number SM-S918B/DS. That’s the European version of the handset, with the “DS” at the end confirming dual-SIM support. The US version bears the model number SM-S918U. Either way, the listing reveals that the device will support Samsung’s S Pen. We were already expecting that since the company has discontinued the Galaxy Note lineup and merged it with the Ultra model of the Galaxy S series. The Galaxy S22 Ultra also has a built-in S Pen. Additionally, we can see that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will pack a battery unit with the model number EB-BS918ABY (via). Previous leaks had already revealed that this battery has a rated capacity of 4855mAh, which should mean a typical capacity of 5,000mAh. That’s unchanged from the current Ultra. However, the FCC documents have reiterated a prior rumor that the upcoming model will top out at 25W fast charging. The Galaxy S22 Ultra boasts a 45W charging speed. It could be just for testing purposes, though. The Galaxy S23 Ultra could still support 45W charging. The new Samsung flagship will offer both wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. Termed Wireless PowerShare by Samsung, the latter feature lets you wirelessly charge compatible watches and earbuds by placing them on the back of the phone. The FCC listing also confirms Wi-Fi 6E and NFC support on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The Galaxy S23 launch is still months away

Leaks and rumors about Samsung‘s Galaxy S23 phones have been circulating for several months now. We have already seen all three models in high-resolution renders. Several key specs have also been revealed. We even got to see early samples from the company’s unannounced third-gen 200MP camera for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. All things are pointing to a substantial upgrade from the Galaxy S22 series, particularly in the camera department. However, despite all these leaks, we are nowhere near the launch of the Galaxy S23 series. The new Samsung flagships are still more than two months away. Reports emerging from South Korea recently revealed that the company has locked an “early February” window for its next Galaxy Unpacked event. We don’t have a precise date yet. But if history is any indication, leaks will come thick and fast as the launch draws closer. So it’s only a matter of time now before the Galaxy S23 devices start taking proper shape. We will keep you posted.
