This is part of a push for ESPN to add more original content to ESPN+. Since most of the live sports are on ESPN, as well as other cable channels, and not available for ESPN+. With the price increase earlier this year, ESPN+ desperately needs more original content, to keep people on the service. Since ESPN has the rights to the College Football Playoff, as well as almost all of the other bowl games (41 out of 44 bowl games will air on ESPN’s networks), it’s a good way to take advantage of it. This year, Alabama, Michigan, Georgia and Cincinnati have places in the College Football Playoff. With Alabama being the number one seed and taking on Cincinnati on New Year’s Eve. Michigan is the number two seed and taking on Georgia, also on New Year’s Eve. The winners of those two games will meet in Indianapolis on January 10 for the National Championship. The same location where Michigan won the Big Ten title earlier this month.
